Our First Snow

Although it snowed last week, it did not accumulate but we awoke this morning to about an inch of snow that covered the ground. Landon had a party at school today so he dressed up like a nerd this morning (he's out of school for the next 2 days) and Mason had "crazy day" at school. We carpool with Michelle who has 5 children and today was her day to drive. On their way to school, Michelle who was going very slow, lost control of the car, it spun around, hit an embankment and the car flipped. The window Landon was sitting by shattered and his elbow got cut up but other than that, everyone was OK. They all had to crawl out of the back window. We were called by a church member who drove by the scene so we when we got there, the boys were inside an ambulance to stay out of the snow. The boys were pretty shook up but PRAISE GOD for HIS PROTECTION OVER THEM! We decided to forget school today and we brought them home. Michelle's suburban is totaled. Later this afternoon, the kids got outside to play in it.....

We finally got a cord for our laptop so I have some catching up to do. Two weeks ago we went on our first family hike up Vallecito Trail. We had a great time but Landon didn't enjoy it quiet as much as everyone else (anything that requires energy is a pain to him!)

It was a beautiful hike and was up hill a ways.....

Lewis and Clark.........
Haven gave out before we were done....
Good news that we got today as that Mason made the All-Star team for football. What this means is that Saturday he will practice and the following Saturday will be the All-Star game in Farmington, NM. Then the Saturday after that will be the state tournament for the Bayfield team down in Albuquerque, NM! All this PLUS basketball games are on Saturdays! How will we have time to watch the Tide play!!! We'll figure it out I guess!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HALLIE!

My niece Hallie turns 10 year old today! She is the daughter of my brother Kerry and his wife Renee and lives in Fayette, Alabama. Hallie is so full of life and enjoys herself everywhere she goes! Hope your special day is the best ever Hallie! We love you!

SO.....WE LOST

Yep...the boys fought soooo hard and played such an awesome game but we lost 6-0. Mason played the best game he has ever played with 10 tackles, 2 great punts, and a fumble recovery. They were terribly disappointed but what an awesome season they had!! And I found out today that the season is not over......apparently we now will be traveling to the state tournament in Albuquerque on Nov 13-14th. However, basketball starts tonight so for the next 3 weeks, we will be playing BOTH football and basketball :) (What we do for our children!) The state tournament is optional but Mason sure wants to be a part of it.
I had to decorate the van...yes, I am THAT kind of mom Tracy T!!
One of the mom's made all the other mom's these cool signs.....
Our new jerseys were so pretty and bright GOLD...(Mason won't let me call them yellow because that's "a girl color")
Little sis cheered on her bubba.................
We had two couples from the church come to support Mason so that meant a lot to him. He is out of school today for parent/teacher conferences and then Landon is out on Thursday and Friday but had to go to school today. That's one thing I don't like about this school system.
When you read this, I ask you to say a prayer for two children in our church, Peyton and Preston who lost their Daddy in a motorcycle accident yesterday after they spent the day with him. Christina, their mom, attends our church regularly but the kids come every other week because they go to their dad's every other weekend. Christina is just recently divorced and the kid's dad just lives a block away from the kids so he was a part of their daily lives. Peyton is 7 and needs our prayers along with Christina will now be a single parent. Peyton just turned 3 and doesn't understand what's going on. Thank you!

SUPERBOWL BOUND!!

YES, WE WON LAST WEEK SO WE ARE NOW HEADED TO THE SUPERBOWL THIS WEEKEND!! It is sooooo exciting and oh how I wish our family and friends could be here to support Mason in this. We face Kirtland who has the same color jerseys as us soooooo...we have new jerseys just for this game! It's crazy but the boys were sure excited about it. Kirtland is also undefeated and this will be the toughest game they have ever played. No matter the outcome,we are so proud of how well they've worked as a team and it's been a fun season. This is a picture of Mason as one of the captains meeting with the ref's in middle of the field...he's #77
This is Mason and his best buddy (from here) Chance.....
This video is of Mason kicking a field goal at the Cortez game.....

SO.....GO BAYFIELD WOLVERINES 6th GRADE YAFL!!!!

Updates

Well our laptop is down and we are unable to post any pictures because all the pictures are downloaded to the laptop. The charging cord is not working properly so we'll have to replace it. In the meantime, I thought I would update everyone on what all has been going on this week.....
As of Monday, we became official landlords. For those of you who may not know, our house was under contract and we were suppose to close by September 30th. On Sept. 25th, we get an email from our realtor saying that the lady has backed out of the contract. Devastated but still realizing that God is in control, I couldn't understand why God had provided us with the money needed to get out of our mortgage with this offer, and then the offer fell through??? Again, His ways are not ours. The very next day, my friend from Cullman called and said that a lady had contacted her and told her to give us her name and number, for us to call her if our contract fell through, that she wanted our house........WOW! God provided AGAIN!! HE IS FAITHFUL!!!
So because of some financial issues with this family, they have signed a lease to own option and will purchase our home within the next 3 years. Meanwhile, they will make our house payment as well as make improvements to the house as needed. PRAISE GOD!
Mason's 6th grade YAFL Football team finished regular season undefeated at 8-0. They went into play-offs this Saturday ranked #1 and after a very stressful, nail-biting game....they pulled another win and beat Cortez 28-13!! Mason kicked another field goal and I got this one on tape but can't post it until the laptop is running. It is so exciting!! We go to the 2nd round next week in Bloomfield and if we win that one, it's on to the SuperBowl in Farmington. From there, we could possibly go to "State" in Albuqurque, NM. Why is state in NM? Because we play in the Four Corners league and it's closer for us than Denver.
Landon was out of school Friday but Mason was not.....It's kind of wierd here how not all school inservices applies to all schools. Instead of having county and city school systems, each town has their own school system and superintendent.....so you would think that their days off would all be the same. Apparently the elementary school does not have to go to school as many days per year as the middle and high school because they get out a lot more.....strange! Tomorrow they are both out so we are taking our first family hike.
We were very sad to miss the wedding of our nephew Brent Lawson and Hannah Pate on Saturday. We heard that every thing went well and it was a beautiful wedding. CONGRATULATIONS BRENT AND HANNAH!! WE'RE VERY HAPPY FOR YOU!! Also, we are going to be a great uncle and aunt because Brent's sister Kayci and her husband Jamie are expecting!! CONGRATULATIONS KAYCI AND JAMIE!!

Our Landon

Our Landon is keeping us busy this year! ...and it's a great thing because for years, he has followed us around to all of Mason's sporting events so it's finally his year to shine! And this is how Landon feels about having to go to Mason's games and practices!!!
Landon is in 3rd grade this year and while he doesn't really like school, he is doing well with fitting in and now has many friends. This is him coming out of his classroom after school one day.....
I am volunteering in his class every Tuesday morning, to assist with math so I got to on the field trip with them on Sept 24th to the Durango Nature Center....and it was just that....the nature center was just the open outdoors! No building...just land to explore the world of insects in. Here are some pictures from our day......

This was my crew for the day........

They played lots of fun insect games....
Swept bugs off of the plants with nets.....

Looked at them thru magnifying glasses to identify them..........
Had lunch under the trees....
And for the highlight of the trip, we got to see......
A real taranula in his real habitat!! It just crossed the path we were on.....EEEKKKK!
Landon has BES Choir on Mondays after school, Science Club on Tuesdays after school, and Drum lessons in Durango on Friday's after school. He is loving his drum lessons...here's a picture from lessons......
.
Landon is a precious blessing to us and has the sweetest and most outgoing personality. He continues to pray for God to send us back to Alabama....now so more than ever because he found out that it is against the law to have a monkey in Colorado but not in Alabama!! (Yes, he has become fasinated with monkeys!)

Fall is Gorgeous!

Just wanted to share some pictures from fall with you.....it is sooooo beautiful here as the Aspens turn gold......

I ran into more sheep last week too!

Today there's been a lot of snow up on the mountain behind our house but not here yet (THANK GOD!). It's been cool but not too cold yet. Beautiful though......you ought to come check it out!
