Updates

Mike is tired of the previous blog and says I need to update (so I told him to go ahead...but you see he didn't) so here goes......

1. I've felt extremely overwhelmed this week with the business of cleaning cabins, having summer fun with the kids, baseball games, and VBS needs but I know everything is all going to come together

2. I've not been able to sleep well because of the above info

3. Mason's team is now 7-2....we lost again the other night by 1 point (again). Mason did well pitching and now has a total of 26 strike-outs in 11 innings.

4. The trampoline is fixed now! Had to order 2 parts and take down the net but you gotta to do, what you gotta do!

5. We had our first injury with the church addition today as Charlie Downs fell through the roof of the porch that they were working on removing. He's OK, no broken bones but hurting so pray for him.

6. Church tent is going up Saturday....YAY!!!

7. Landon has lost 12 lbs...we're very proud of his efforts!

8. Had someone ask me what the "A" on the back of our van stood for. I said "Univ of AL" and he proceeded to say "I thought that might be what it was for .....they win a National Championship and then they get cocky" .....yes, I proceeded to punch him in the face and say "No, they win 13 National Championships which give them a REASON to be cocky"!!

9. Just kidding! I didn't punch him in the face or say that but I did say that we loved BAMA just as much before the NC as after because we were both graduates there.

10. Church was FULL Sunday with Summer people coming back. Several new couples were there who are working at camp grounds this summer that plan to spend the summer with us.

11. Lee DeWyze won American Idol, Michael won Biggest Loser, Erin Andrews didn't win DWTS (sad), AND I got to see "Dear John"....all in the same week!

12. FINALLY.....FINALLY.......we got beautiful weather today. If felt like spring...FINALLY...no snow(but it did snow on Monday)...no wind...just 75 degrees and sunny! FINALLY

Church Progress....

The foundation to the new addition to the church has been started.......
And finished!! We are all ready for our Volunteer Builders to arrive!! Praise God!
And remember that brand new trampoline that we put up for the kids in April.......

Yep.......stupid wind...frame is broken....very disappointed mama + kids. It seems that the wind blows constantly here and it's worse for us because we are near the lake bed and no trees are around us. The day this happened, we had 60 mph winds and had 4 sand bags on the trampoline. I now hate the wind as much as the snow. I know, I know....I just sound so negative but the bible tells us not to hate people.......it doesn't say anything about weather conditions!!!
Does it?

Mother's Day, May Birthdays, and Field Days......

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers out there! This sure is a tough day for me as my heart's desire is to honor my mother and spend this special day with her but can't. Those of you who could spend this day with your mothers, don't take it for granted and appreciate every precious moment with them. We are both so blessed with wonderful mothers and are sorry that we can't spend the day with you! Thank you Mom and Mama Kaye for making us who we are today...we love you!

I'm spending the day relaxing between church and a graduation party tonight. We celebrated Mother's Day a little early with a steak supper last night will get some plants at the end of the month as my gift. Here, you can't plant anything this early unless you can bring it in every night because it still can get down to 15 degrees or so in the middle of the night. The wind is what is driving me crazy right now....so sick of it. You can't enjoy pretty, sunny days because the wind blows so hard. I crave some of those 90 degree days you are having in Alabama!!!

Yes, I have almost forgotten the May birthdays and this is the reason I have stopped posting pictures because I keep forgetting birthdays! Sorry!

So Here's HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO..........

Mark Owen(Mike's brother)- May 3rd
Chloe Richardson(niece who turns 5)- May 18th
Brenlee Richardson(niece who turns 13) - May 19th
Sydney Owen(niece who turns 7)- May 22nd

The busy season has begun as I've started "spring cleaning" cabins, baseball is in full swing, and end of year school activities. They have 4 more days of school left and then Friday is officially summer break for the boys. Landon had field day on Friday and while he gave it his all, he didn't receive any ribbons this year and was terribly disappointed. We tried to emphasize that he gave it such a great effort and that everyone has their strong points in different areas. Here are some pics from the day......
Shotput....look at that face!!!
This is Landon's best buddy Max.....
Now Landon does the discus throw....
Haven attended Field Day also but as you can see, wasn't very happy about it until her friends Jack and Annie showed up

Landon in the 50 meter dash.....

Gearing up for the Hurdles.....
Below is his class, killing time between events
Mason's team has won their last 2 games so now they are 2-1. He got "the save" the other night as he was put in to pitch with the last batter (bases were loaded) and he struck him out so that was exciting. Mike missed Thursday night's game so I taped each hit for him so I thought I would share one with you........

Next post coming up: PROGRESS ON THE BUILDING!! Stay tuned!

Baseball has Begun!

Saturday was opening game for the Bayfield baseball season and this year Mason is on the Phillies team. One of his friends, Taed, is on his team but the rest of his friends are on the team he had to play against on Saturday. They introduced each team at 11:15 and then our game was at 2:00. Look at the difference in Mason (the tallest one there in the red) and the kid to his right....!
Mason was the starting pitcher and did an awesome job! He pitched the first 3 innings, then they put a relief pitcher in, the other team started scoring some points, so then they put him back in the last inning. He struck out 9 batters, had 2 hits and 1 walk, and scored 3 times and had 3 RBI's. So we're very proud of how well he played in his opening games against his best friends. Look how thin the boy is now!
Oh and what about that haircut! WOW! He has ears!!

Unfortunately, we lost by one point. In the last inning, we had a man on 2nd and 3rd (with 2 outs) and the other team intentionally walked our hitter because they knew the next hitter had struck out his other 3 times at bat. While it's a legal move, it sure seems "chicken" and it made me so mad! I hate playing against the other mothers on that team as well because they can be sooooo obnoxious!! Maybe we'll beat them next time!
